2010 Workshop Season

This summer will be our fourth year of international workshops at Au Brana and will have a slightly different flavour from the last three years. In place of producing a series of workshops, Au Brana and OBRA will instead host a longer residency in conjunction with associated artists. There are still vacancies in the calendar if you wish to use Au Brana as your workshop venue.

The 2010 Summer Residency is a four-week intensive workshop combining OBRA’s practice with Matej Matejka and Christopher Sivertsen. OBRA is the company in residence at Au Brana and has led at least one work session every year, Christopher is an Au Brana regular, having led his Breathing Performer workshop at the centre the previous three years, and Matej joined us in our first season, leading his practice under the title Waking the Listening Body. We are very happy to finally have Matej back and really excited by what the month will bring as these different bodies of work combine with a new ensemble. The residency will use Ted Hughes’ narrative poem Gaudete as a text and will culminate with a public presentation at the centre. The session runs from 12th July until 7th Aug.

Following the success of last year's "Stones Have Been Known To Move" workshop, John Britton is returning to Au Brana Cultural Centre in May 2010. This year he will be running an intensive exploration into ensemble improvisation, Self-With-Others. The session runs May 16th- 21st and all applications can be sent directly to John. We look forward to having John back on the farm and hope to see some of you here with him.

A Late entrant  into the season this year  but very welcome at the centre  is The Breathing Performer with The Awake Project workshop taking place from September 6th-11th. This 5 day intensive residency is the first chance to experience the work that the Awake project have between developing under the artistic direction of Christopher Sivertsen. Christopher is a long term collaborator with Au Brana, leading a Breathing performer workshop each year as part of the season, and this year he has decided to include the work and the members of the Awake Project Ensemble.
